Continuation of my March 13 entry

My dog passed away last March 26, 2007. I wasn’t home that time. My mom just told me after being checked by the doctor, it was home service, and my dog walked a few meters and dropped dead on the ground. Our house helper even said, he walked away as if he is trying to position himself near the place where he’ll be buried.

Too sad I was not able to see him and embrace him. Before I left that morning, I even told him to rest well and that a doctor will come in later. Not knowing that was the last time I’ll see him.

I know he’s in dog heaven. He’s a good boy and I will surely miss his barking, peeing in the garden and on our visitors’, and guarding the house at night. I used to call him, dog-doorbell :-)

The "S" factor

It was my first time to see her perform live and the concert itself was okay. I didn’t like the front act. Each song the band performed was quite long and didn’t appeal to me as well. I can’t even remember the name of the band. Sitti had special guests, the first one was with Cookie Chua – I’m not sure, but is she married? She seemed out of shape but she obviously performed better than Sitti. Next on the list was with John…John who? Sorry but I forgot the surname. All I remember was, he was one of the top Three in Philippine Idol. .His performance was A-Ok. In fact, I still keep on singing .."I don’t wanna bore you with this, But….” ---LSS (last song syndrome). For a first-timer, not bad. Then there was DJ Moe doing his usual on-the-spot questioning (I hope it wasn’t scripted). It added fun to the show except that Sitti ‘appeared” to be conservative and refused to answer some of the questions (awww moment).

Sitti's Band rating – four stars (5 being the highest)
Sitti – three stars (she needs to improve on her showmanship (tama ba, Gee?). There were times when I can’t hardly hear her voice and she has limited moves as well

A Walk in the Park

Last night, Mel and I went brisk-walking at Salcedo Park. Jogging is really a no-no simply because I don’t feel comfortable – I feel itchy all over my body which leads me not to finish even one round. It may be different for brisk walking, I said to myself, but I was totally wrong. After two rounds, thee I was scratching my legs, my sides until it was too unbearable that I had to stop. I completed only 3 rounds of walk for 10 minutes.

I don’t want to spoil the excitement of Mel so I encouraged my buddy to continue and I even made it more challenging – to beat the time! While Mel was walking, there I was staring at the luxurious condo units surrounding the park, wondering what lives do they have there, who lives there and how big the units are.

It was also fun watching dog breeds – yes, from the tiny ones to the big ones J The weather was perfect, it wasn’t humid at all and it was a pleasant crowd.

I failed my objective and I don't want to enroll in a fitness club. I won’t give up, I know I’ll be able to discover ways on how to lose weight without spending that much!

Arf Arf

These past few weeks, every time I’d call my dog, he’s not as jolly as he used to be. Normally he would run towards me, do a stand and kiss me all over. Then I noticed that he’s starting to lose his vision – he can’t walk straight and he uses instead his sense of hearing and smell when being called or when finding his food. My initial suspicion was that it has something to do with his age – old age perhaps that is why he’s not that playful anymore. Just that thought made me sad -- not seeing him running around the backyard, peeing on our gate and on our visitors.

Then last Sunday I noticed his right eye is all red. Sore eyes? Nuh, I don’t think so. Later during that day I noticed blood coming out and that really bothered me. I kept on thinking of him while I was out and I talked to my mom and asked her to please bring our dog to the veterinarian. I am willing to spend just to make sure he gets well.

We were told that our dog developed glaucoma. Unfortunately it may be genetic. Since he has blurred vision, perhaps he bumped into something sharp and that hit his eye which is why it was bleeding. He was confined for further observation and since he is an obedient dog, the operation was also performed yesterday. As to the glaucoma, there’s nothing we can do about it.

Last night while I was watching him inside his cage (yes, we decided to bring him back to his cage to avoid the same incident), he seems to be drowsy. The doctor said effect of the medicines. He is now under medication and once his wound has healed (from his eye operation), he can start walking around the house again but this time someone has to guide him.
