What if

So many things to do yet so little time.
When I was in college, I said to myself I want to pursue a career in dance. To be a professional dancer and be known in this field. It was really a choice of whether to pursue a career in the corporate world or in the field of arts. For 9 years I've been in the corporate world. At the back of my mind, everytime I watch shows/concerts or even movies, I would always ask myself the 'what if.' Even when I was planning to take my Masters, I was considering pursuing a course in dance instead. It is really my passion but the big question is....WHY CAN'T I PURSUE IT? If it's really what I want, how come I'm not doing anything to make this dream a reality? Not that there were no opportunities. In fact, there were a lot. I even mentioned it here that I got an offer to teach.
Maybe I'm just scared because dancing, in my opinion, is not a stable job as compared to what the corporate world offers therefore I can't just risk it. Or maybe I'm not that good that is why I don't have the confidence to pursue it. Or it's a combination of both. Or there are no dance studios located near my place that's why I dont get the chance. Just last week I went to a near-by mall to check if the dance studio was still open only to find out that it transferred to Cubao. That's quite far and here I go again, making all the lame excuses why I can't just be there.
I really hope that one day i get to pursue this dream --while I still can or forever I'll be asking the question, "what if."

Comfort Food

I am quite depressed with a lot of things these days. And just like you, I resort to compulsive eating of foods that give me relief. Sad to say, weight loss is also one cause of my depression but I can't help it. This is in no order.

1. Starbucks' Sweet Spice Latte and since this is seasonal offer, now it's Peppermint Mocha. It has something to do with the "mint" taste that gives me a feeling of relief and relaxation.

Here's one to go with my brownie :-)

2. Putong (soft rice cake) Ube or Goldilock's plain puto - I am fond of it. I prefer the plain ones or with cheese and if with flavor, it has to be ube (taro).

3. Sugarhouse's Marjolaine cake - that is why I hate red ribbon for being a copy cat. Still, the original is the best

4. pasta - all kinds will do! But if I have to rank it, (1) tomato-based (2) oil-based (3) creamy pasta

5. Aling Nene's barbecue - I've heard and seen the store but it was only this year that I tried it and it made my world go around...yummy! Very affordable too. 2 pieces of barbecue with rice and laing --ooooo...the best!

6. ice cream - I have no brand but of course there's HD, FIC and Selecta

7. anything that has shrimps - Shirmp Sandwich of Wendy's, Shrimp Tempura, Chopseuy with shrimps, shrimps with quail egg, hilabos na hipon...basta anything with shrimp

8. anything that has cocounut milk -- oh yeah...laing, bicol express, chicken curry and more!!!

9. Taho along the side streets of Makati

10. Fishball in UP Diliman -- although I stopped for a year because of an allergy I had which I suspected came from that not-so-fresh fishball. But now I'm back to eating fishballs and squidballs

11. cheese waffle

Yummy, now I'm hungry so bye and it's time for dinner. By the way, I got this idea from Cathy's blog :-)

Updates

I haven't really shared the other details of what happened lately but let me recount some of the major events I went through and which I failed to mention in my other blog entries:

July
I joined a new company. I frequented the gym and sticked to my diet then. In fact, I went back to my ex-company and a lot of people noticed I lost weight.

August
I was very busy preparing for the Company Anniversary/Bowling Tournament since I was volunteered (prior to my arrival) to be part of the committee. Our global HR head also came to visit us so the first week was really toxic. I had presentations left and right, also facilitated some workshops for her to see and of course the usual hospitality had to be there. There was ballroom dancing, breakfast at the hotel, visiting a 'foundation', dinner at different restaurants. That also meant staying up late and waking up early. I even got sick days after.

September
I am assigned to be the deputee for the Year-end party event. All the while I thought I've graduated from this responsibility. It seems to be haunting me anywhere I go. I joined three companies and I've done this for the said three.
We also celebrated the 1st birthday of our beloved "Baby Dong" (a stuffed toy/bear I got last year when I was in Cebu). It was a simple celebration -- food from Mc Donalds and picture-taking at Jollibee.

October
The second-time I didn't get to celebrate halloween in the office. It was a tradition not practiced in my current office.
A new department has been set-up so the month was spent preparing for its launching -- for my part, series of teambuilding events for members of the said department.

By the way, I use black socks! :-) This was taken the time I bought it.
