The year that was

While the rest of you guys had your last day at work yesterday, mine just ended an hour ago. Looking back, I never expected 2004 to be like this. I remember angsting about my work, the people around me and how boring my life is. But now, I can't believe how my life changed towards the end of the year. I really thank God for all the blessings -- nobody in the family got sick (except me!), my friends who have always been there (my closest friends all got married this year), good grades in school (no failing remarks in my written comprehensive exam) and to be working here..a dream come true and of course having my Ahme. Although in terms of health this wasn't a good year for me. I really spent a lot in medication....yeah yeah, 'not enough vitamins.' Hmmm.... come to think of it, I really felt so stressed this 2004 -- mentally, emotionally and physically. I made major decisions that caused sleepless nights, I had to adjust on a new work schedule aka change my lifestyle. But no regrets, I learned from all of these experiences. I will look back at 2004 with a smile on my face. Goodbye 2004 and welcome 2005!!!!!

so slooooowww...

I spent 7 hours in the internet last night (till the wee hours of the morning) just sending/uploading pictures and downloading pics from my my digicam. Imagine that! I was hoping that since it's 1am,uploading and emailing will be faster but nope, that wasn't the case. I shared the story to my friend, Encho, and he has the same sentiments. It took him more than an hour to send around 10 pix. Mind you, he's already a techy person. Does it have something to do with my ISP (since I'm a prepaid card user)? I'm not really an internet person that's why I prefer using prepaid cards. I have an access in the office but it's difficult to do personal stuff especially when my boss is around. So, I took advantage of this xmas break, but I can't believe how slooooowwww this thing works. In fact, I slept over it and after an hour, still not yet done. What I learned from this activity???? How to multi-task!!! Good that I have a spare card here, if not, I might have cried when at 2am this suddenly popped up in my screen ----> "Unable to establish connection. Verify username and password."

Vacation at last!

Since I resigned last August, it was my first time to experience a loooong weekend. That was last Nov. 25 onwards, Thanksgiving Day. That was 4 days of rest. Most of my co-workers went out-of-town. I had to stay because of Bryce's party. Here are the highlights of my vacation…
Thursday, Nov. 25 - reunion with ex-UnionBankers at
Sentro 1771 , GB3. I just had 3 hours of sleep (but one of the most relaxing ones I had) then, I went straight to the mall to meet Hannah and Tina. It was fun seeing them. Nothing beats the feeling of being with your real friends.
Friday, Nov. 26 – took care of my finances in the morning. Then I met up with Gee and we had lunch at recipes. We spent the entire afternoon at the
Ayala Museum . It was my first time to visit the place. I recommend you to check it out and might as well cap the day with a little chitchatting over a cup of coffee at Museum Café.
Saturday, Nov. 27 – watched
Danscap Manila’s dance concert entitled “HIP” at the UP Theater. I can’t describe the feeling while I was watching. It brought back memories of my ‘dancing career’ (?); there was also a feeling of ‘what if’…I pursued this career. Oh well :-(
I'm excited next week for another long vacation. I'll update you then and hopefully learn how to upload pix here.

1 star in 3 parties

Bryce, my only nephew, just turned one last Nov. 25. It's his first birthday and all I can say is that he's a lucky kid. He is blessed with very loving parents, aunties and grandparents. Being a first-born son, it was a big celebration for the Chinese clan (my bro-in-law is 100% Chinese). As we all know, the Chinese really give high importance to first-born son/s. I knew this since I also have Chinese friends but witnessing how it really means to them was different. I am overwhelmed!
The first celebration was in QC Sports Club. That was the children's party. My sis and bro invited friends, officemates and relatives with their kids. There were a lot of games, organized by Party Perks
, and it ended with the celebrator, Bryce himself, giving away loot bags to his guests. The theme then was Winnie the Pooh. Bryce was very adorable in his costume. In fact, parents took pictures of their kids, with Bryce, as souvenirs. Aside from the usual food, there were food carts (dirty ice cream is the best!) everywhere :9
The second celebration was last Sunday, lunchtime, at Gloria Maris in Greenhills. Guests were from both sides of my bro's parents. In short, my family is the only pureblooded Pinoys. There were lots of red envelopes from the guests (hehe). They were also sharing stories of how proud and happy they all were upon knowing that it's a baby boy for the couple. The best part...the food!!!! (I'm already full when I found out we were just done with the appetizer). You know the usual pinoy joke, "as if you'll be slaughtered like a pig after?" --- that was the real feeling. You can't help yourself but eat and eat since all the food served was flavorful and mouth-watering.
The third celebration was dinner time, same day. It's a 3-in-1 celebration: bday of my mom (last Nov. 19, Happy Birthday Mama Boy!), Bryce's bday and reunion, father’s side.
Too much eating and drinking this weekend! As a result.... I had allergies and ended up in the ER of VRP hospital. (But hey, in fairness, by the time I went to the hospital, all the guests went home already).
